Bruce L Blumer
I grew up in parsonages in the Dakotas. My father is a retired United Methodist pastor who preached with parables and wrote a book – Parables of a Country Preacher.
Influenced the power of a story, I have used parables in writing as a school principal, in my work with the Dakotas United Methodist Foundation, and currently as the Executive Director of the United Methodist Church Development Center.
Writing is for reflection and as a hobby but have had devotions printed in the Upper Room, a week of devotions in Disciplines 2014, and have self-published two booklets on Haiti (Paths, Proverbs, and Lessons from Haiti and I Saw God Today). Self-published books Parsonage Parables – a “greatest hits” collection of these blog posts and a children’s book, Even a Little Raindrop, written in English and Haitian Creole.
Currently writing a book with a publisher, working title is Simply Grace: Everyday Glimpses of God.
Co-founder of a nonprofit, LaGonave Alive, to support work in Haiti (www.LaGonaveAlive.com).
Enjoy family, writing, photography, and travel.
